Having worked in bars and cocktail development for twelve years, I’m often asked what bar gear you should have at home. So I thought I’d make a guide for the home bartender to help you get started! Feel free to leave comments and ask questions, I’m here for you!

All my products have easy links to purchase for yourself through Amazon, as I am an Amazon Associate.

Ice For Shaking and Stirring — I know this sounds silly, but ice matters! If you have flimsy ice, you can easily over-dilute your cocktails. I like square, silicon ice cube trays for the ice I use for shaking and stirring. Trays like the one I linked are great because you can remove the ice cubes individually very easily. Trust me, you’ll thank me later!

Ice for Drinks — I have had a king cube tray for my home bar for about nine years. I love these 4 ounce cubes for my Boulevardiers! Why? They melt slower, simple as that. Like the ice tray I use to make the ice I shake and stir with, I also use silicon trays for my king cubes. Here is a link to one of my favorites! If you’re a tiki drinker, I recommend getting one of these cute pebble ice trays! Pro tip: once the tray is frozen, empty it and store the pebbles in a separate container, freeing up the tray to make more ice — and repeat. These little guys go fast!
